AC Transit schedules Public Hearing June 21 on proposals to reduce the route and service schedules of Line A
Press Releases
06/13/2001
(Oakland, CA) AC Transit’s Board of Directors will accept comment during a public hearing June 21 on proposals that would reduce service on Transbay Line A (San Francisco-downtown Oakland-Oakland Airport) except for the early morning “owl” service linking downtown San Francisco with downtown Oakland. Line A buses presently operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week linking San Francisco with West Oakland, the downtown Oakland transfer center, the Amtrak station in Jack London Square and the Oakland Airport. Under the proposed changes, Line A schedules would be reduced to operation only during post-midnight hours (normally midnight to 6:00 a.m.) when BART transbay service is not operating. Line A service during the day, from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, would be discontinued. Also, Line A would operate after midnight only transbay between San Francisco and downtown Oakland. Line A would no longer extend east of downtown Oakland to the airport (since alternate Line 58 service is available), if the proposed changes are adopted. Written comment on these proposals may be submitted before the public hearing, which will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday (June 21, 2001) in the District’s Board Room, 1600 Franklin Street in downtown Oakland. Facsimiles or E-mail must be received no later than 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21, to be provided to the Board for consideration at the public hearing. Address written comment to AC Transit, District Secretary, 1600 Franklin Street, Oakland, CA 94612, send it by facsimile to 510-891-7157 or e-mail to planning@actransit.org.
