Improved schedules for Dumbarton Express buses go into effect Monday, July 2nd

Press Releases
06/21/2001

(Oakland, CA) Line DB-Dumbarton Express bus schedules will be expanded and adjusted beginning Monday, July 2, 2001, to provide trips every 15 minutes weekdays during the morning and afternoon commute periods. Dumbarton Express buses link Stanford, the Stanford Industrial Park, downtown Palo Alto and Menlo Park with the East Bay on weekdays (except holidays), connecting with AC Transit”s bus route network, BART trains, local Union City Transit bus lines and the Caltrans park-and-ride lot in Newark. West Bay connections meet Caltrain, SamTrans and Santa Clara VTA service. The expanded Dumbarton Express schedule has westbound trips first leaving the Union City BART station at 5:20 a.m., and continuing every 15 minutes thereafter until 7:50 a.m. Midday, Line DB buses operate every 60 minutes between Union City and the Palo Alto Caltrain station. Afternoons, eastbound trips begin leaving Stanford Industrial Park earlier – at 2:10 p.m. From 4:10 until 5:40 p.m., eastbound trips operate every 15 minutes, continuing thereafter every 30 minutes until 7:10 p.m. With this adjustment, Line DB-2 – the limited, and lightly-patronized, service schedules to Menlo Park industrial sites – is being discontinued. Transbay fares for Line DB trips between East and West Bay sites remain unchanged. That fare is $2.00 per trip for adults, $40.00 for the 20-ride book of convenience tickets or $70 for the discounted monthly pass. Discounted cash fare for seniors and people with certified disabilities remains $0.35 local and $1.00 transbay for seniors and passengers with disabilities, $0.60 local and $1 transbay for youths. Line DB route and schedule information and trip-planning assistance is available from any of the public transit systems that, collectively, administer Dumbarton Express service. This Dumbarton Consortium consists of AC Transit, BART, SamTrans, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, and Union City Transit. For personalized trip-planning assistance, contact any of the Dumbarton Consortium agencies by calling TRAVINFO at 817-1717 (from any area code in the Bay Area). Route and schedule information also is online at www.transitinfo.org/db/.
