Take AC Transit to any of four stellar East Bay attractions and get a discount off the price of admission. Bus riders will find the discounts at the Chabot Space and Science Center, Lawrence Hall of Science, the Oakland Zoo, and the USS Hornet Museum beginning Monday, April 22, and extending through October 31, 2002.
On arrival at each of the attractions, a transit user obtains a courtesy transfer from the bus operator. At the ticket office, that Courtesy Transfer is good for a substantial discount off the regular admission price (or, at the USS Hornet Museum, one free entry with each paid admittance).
- At the Chabot Space and Science Center, high atop the Oakland hills, attractions include a 20-inch refractor telescope (the largest refractor in the western U.S. regularly open to the public), a high-tech “Mega Dome” auditorium with a space-age projector that screens larger-than-life films, a Planetarium, and other eye-opening exhibits and educational activities. The discounted admission (with a courtesy transfer) is $3 for adults and $0.50 for seniors and youth (ages 4-12). Open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (Noon to 5:00 p.m. Sundays), the Chabot Space and Science Center is served by AC Transit’s Line 53 buses.

Admission (with a courtesy transfer) to the hall of science, located in the hills above UC Berkeley, is reduced to $6 for adults, $4 for youth (5-18) and full-time students, and $1 for seniors children (3-4) and disabled persons. Open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily (with planetarium shows at 1:00, 2:15 and 3:30 p.m.), Lawrence Hall of Science is served by AC Transit’s Line 8 and Line 65 buses.
