Changes to Lines 35X, 51, and 51M in East Alameda

AC Transit plans to reroute several bus lines serving East Alameda beginning Sunday, August 25, from residential streets and on to wider Encinal Avenue.

The adjustments, planned at the request of city officials, will relocate local bus Lines 51 and 51M to operate via Encinal Avenue, rather than on San Jose Avenue, when traveling between High Street and Broadway.

Similarly, Line 35X-Express bus service, which now travels via San Jose Avenue between High and Broadway and on Central Avenue between Broadway and Park Street, will be shifted to operation solely on Encinal Avenue between Park and High Streets.

These changes are compatible with the municipality’s comprehensive “Alameda Transit Plan,” accepted by the City Council last November after many months of study and public input. The entire transit plan is available for public inspection on the Web at www.ci.alameda.ca.us.
