As a result your recent passage of Measure 2, $125 million in annual revenue for transportation projects will be available across the region. The money will be raised through an increase in state-owned bridge tolls from $2 to $3 beginning July 1, 2004.

The Measure 2 expenditure plan allocates funding for AC Transit to increase Transbay bus service and night owl bus service along BART corridors. It also includes funds for increased express bus service, the creation of safe bicycle routes and pedestrian improvements, and a new San Francisco Transbay Terminal. The new terminal will serve as a regional hub for an estimated 27 million transit riders annually in 2020.

AC Transit will also receive $65 million of Measure 2 funds to implement the first phase of a Rapid bus line in Oakland and San Leandro, similar to our successful San Pablo Rapid service. For additional information on Measure 2, please see http://www.mtc.ca.gov.
