Applications are being accepted from individuals who are interested in volunteering to serve on the District’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC).
The AAC consists of 14 members with two members being appointed by each of the seven elected members of the District’s Board of Directors. Representation on the Committee will cover all geographical areas of the District. Committee members shall serve a term of one (1) year beginning March 1st. Members shall continue to serve after one year until their successors are appointed, but shall not extend beyond the appointing Director’s term of office. Appointed members shall complete and file with the District Secretary a Statement of Economic Interest pursuant to the District’s Conflict of Interest Code.
In addition, it is important that there be representation by people who are elderly, people with varying types of disabilities, and individuals from a variety of ethnic groups.

- Show a willingness and openness to listen to the views and interests of others;
- Have direct experience using AC Transit service;
- Have a commitment to participate in the Committee process and are willing to devote approximately three hours a month to attend regular meetings of the Committee as well as preparing for those meetings;
- Have a commitment to participate in one or more AAC subcommittees which usually meet once or twice a month for approximately two to three hours.
The AAC currently meets on the second Tuesday afternoon of every month in 2nd Floor Board Room located at 1600 Franklin Street in Oakland. It is requested that participants and attendees of AAC meetings refrain from wearing scented products as there may be attendees who are susceptible to environmental illnesses.
Upon advance request, sign language interpreters will be provided for hearing impaired persons attending AAC meetings.
