William Offenbacker’s SB Bunch

It started at 5:00 a.m.on a Wednesday in November and the drivers are still talking about it.  That was the day that members of the Transbay Riders Taskforce made surprise presentations of Riders’ Choice Awards to 15 employees at the Transbay Terminal.

As these special drivers pulled up at their respective stops, they were met by a cheering throng of balloon laden gift bearers.One by one, the drivers were pulled from their coaches, congratulated, hugged, photographed, showered with gifts and proclamations, and affixed with a Riders’ Choice Pin to the lapel.

Over the coming weeks we’ll share more photos and stories of all 20 of the Riders’ Choice Award winners from Fall 2005. You’ll see pictures of some of the best employees of AC Transit, and read the actual letters from the riders who nominated them. We’ll also tell you how you can nominate your favorite driver, supervisor, or ticket seller for a Riders’ Choice Award in 2006.
