Bay Bridge Closed Labor Day Weekend

Press Releases
08/14/2007

If you’re planning on traveling between the East Bay and downtown San Francisco over Labor Day weekend, be advised that the Bay Bridge will be closed from 8 p.m., 8/31, to 5 a.m., 9/4, for major roadway replacement work.

The 8:25 p.m. NL will be the last bus departing the Transbay Terminal on Friday evening. Buses scheduled after 8:25 p.m. will not operate over the bridge, but will connect in the East Bay with BART, which will run hourly, overnight service to 14 select stations on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m., in addition to its regular service.

Bus lines and trips affected by the bridge closure are:

Transbay Lines

  • Line L & LA combo at 9:00 p.m.
  • Line NL at 8:40 p.m., 8:55 p.m., 9:25 p.m., 9:55 p.m., 10:24 p.m., 10:54 p.m., 11:24 p.m. and 11:54 p.m.
  • Line O at 8:40 p.m., 9:04 p.m., 10:03 p.m., 11:04 p.m. and 12:10 a.m.

In addition, there will be no service over the Bay Bridge on lines F, NL and O on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Labor Day Weekend.

East Bay-bound passengers on all affected lines can take BART to the West Oakland BART station and connect there to their respective AC Transit bus line. Passengers should obtain a “BART-to-Bus” transfer at West Oakland to pay a reduced local bus fare.

For San Francisco-bound trips, including weekend service on lines F, NL and O, passengers can board their regular bus (stops and schedules are unchanged), which will make special trips to West Oakland BART for connections to San Francisco-bound BART trains. Passengers should pay the local fare on their AC Transit bus, and will also be required to pay the full BART fare between West Oakland and San Francisco. (The one-way fare between West Oakland BART and the first four downtown San Francisco BART stations is $2.55.)

Go to www.bart.gov for BART schedules and fares or visit www.baybridgeinfo.org for information about the Bay Bridge closure and alternate travel routes.

All Nighter Line 800
All Nighter Line 800 will not operate between downtown San Francisco and downtown Oakland during the bridge closure. Passengers can use special, overnight BART service to 12th St. in downtown Oakland and connect there to Line 800 or other All Nighter buses.

Late-night BART trains will run hourly to select stations from approximately 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There will be no BART service from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday before the bridge is scheduled to reopen.

For more information about BART service, go to www.bart.gov or visit www.baybridgeinfo.org for bridge closure specifics and alternate travel routes.
