Measure V V Funding for AC Transit Operations & Maintenance

Press Releases
11/04/2008

Measure V V is on the ballot to raise additional funds that will help to “preserve affordable local public transportation that allows seniors and people with disabilities to remain independent, takes students to and from school, provides transportation alternatives given skyrocketing gas prices, helps residents commute to work and reduces traffic and greenhouse gas emissions by getting cars off the road.” *   A two-thirds vote is required for its passage.

The measure increases an existing parcel tax by $4 per month and extends the tax for 10 years. An independent five-member citizen oversight committee will oversee audits to assure that these funds are spent for the purposes cited in Measure V V, and within the following communities:

Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, Hayward, Oakland, Piedmont, Richmond, San Leandro, San Pablo and certain unincorporated areas of Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
