AC Transit Board Delays Fare Hike Proposal

Press Releases
02/19/2009

Board to Consider Issue on March 11, 2009

The AC Transit Board of Directors has postponed discussion of a possible fare increase until Wednesday, March 11, 2009, removing the issue from its previously scheduled agenda for February 25, 2009.  The discussion is being delayed to allow the Board time to re-evaluate the District’s financial condition in light of the recent passage of the federal stimulus package, the directors said.

Initially, the proposal called for raising adult cash fares by 25 cents– from $1.75 to $2- while cash fares for youths, seniors and people with disabilities would increase by 15 cents-from 85 cents to $1.

The March 11th Board of Directors’ meeting will be held in the second floor Board Room at AC Transit headquarters, 1600 Franklin Street in Oakland.
