Bike to Work Day, May 14th

News Articles
04/21/2009

On Thursday, May 14, thousands of people throughout the Bay Area will leave their car keys at home and peddle to work, school, or appointments.  It is the region’s 15th annual Bike To Work Day and is part of Bike Month, celebrated annually throughout May.

AC Transit will participate in the City of Oakland’s Bike to Work Day event on May 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. at the Frank Ogawa Plaza Energizer Station.

We’re encouraging AC Transit passengers to bike — or bike and take the bus — to the event! Participants will be able to load their own bike, or a demonstrator bike, onto the front bicycle rack of an AC Transit bus and receive two free AC Transit 1-ride tickets just for trying it out!

Volunteers at the downtown Oakland Energizer Station, and as well as at Energizer Stations throughout AC Transit’s service area, will greet and cheer bicyclists. They’ll be giving away musette bags filled with information and goodies, including AC Transit’s “Bicycles on Board” brochure. This year, 100 lucky participants will find a free TransLink card in their musette bag. Donated by AC Transit, the TransLink card is pre-loaded with $5.00 in e-cash value and ready for immediate use!
