Riders & Buses Move Successfully to Temporary Terminal

News Articles
08/10/2010

On August 7, just after midnight, AC Transit’s last bus, the 12:15 Line O, pulled out of the Transbay Terminal with a full load of passengers eager to be part of the final trip. Dozens of others were on hand to snap pictures or simply observe the closing of the 70-year-old facility.

With the old terminal closed and ready for demolition, passengers and staff made the move to the Temporary Terminal, where operations began on Saturday morning, August 7, and will continue until the opening of the new, world-class Transbay Transit Center in 2017.

For new passengers or those who have not yet been to the Temporary Terminal, you can get information and view a map of the Temporary Terminal to locate your bus stop at www.temporaryterminal.org.

We also ask passengers to note a few safety considerations at the new facility.

  • Please arrive early to avoid confusion and to locate your bus stop.
  • For your safety while inside the Temporary Terminal, be sure to use the crosswalk and sidewalks at all times, even if it seems more convenient to cut across the bus roadway.
  • For lines B, C, CB, NXs, S, and SB, which all stop on the center island at the Terminal, enter the Terminal from the Main St. entrance and cross over to the island via the crosswalk.
  • For lines BA and NL, enter the Terminal from Howard St. directly at the stop.
  • For lines F, J, Z, and O, enter the Terminal from the Main St. entrance.
  • Lines E, FS, G, H, L, LA, LC, OX, P, V, and W are outside the Terminal along Main St. between the entrance to the Terminal and Folsom St. It is not necessary to enter the Terminal to access these stops–simply walk past the Main St. entrance and you will see poles for these bus stops.
  • While waiting for your bus, please do not block the crosswalk.
  • Line 800 will continue to stop at its regular stop on 1st St. at Natoma St. during Phase I.
