Temporary Terminal Construction Now Complete

Construction of the Temporary Terminal is now complete, and all transbay bus lines are together again . . . this time inside the new Temporary Terminal located on the block bounded by Main, Howard, Beale, and Folsom streets. Transbay operations will remain at this location until 2017 when the new, world-class Transit Center is scheduled to open.
Bus Stop Locations
All transbay bus lines (except Line 800*) are located inside the Temporary Terminal. Click here to see a diagram of the Temporary Terminal and locate your bus stop. Lines that were previously located on Main Street have moved inside. Some lines that were already inside have moved positions (though most have stayed in their current spot.)
ATTENTION LINE E, FS, G, H, J, L, LA, LC, and Z RIDERS: The windscreens for the canopies at these bus stops (all located on the “new section” of the island) were not be ready by Dec. 11 due to a production delay. They are scheduled to be installed on Dec. 20, which means there will be about 10 days of no wind protection, and also no map cases. Thank you for your patience!
Entrances and Crosswalks
In addition to the existing entrance on Main Street, there are now two additional entrances and crosswalks at the Temporary Terminal – one on Howard Street and one on Beale Street.
As we have emphasized in the past, please help us maintain a safe environment at the Temporary Terminal by using the crosswalks when moving between the perimeter and the island in the middle. The area inside the Temporary Terminal between the Greyhound building and AC Transit’s bus stops is particularly busy because of buses entering and exiting. If you are coming from or going to a location in the Folsom Street area, please be sure to use the designated entrance and crosswalk on either Main Street or Beale Street.
Also, staff at the Temporary Terminal is asking passengers headed for stops around the perimeter to use the entrance closest to their stop whenever possible, rather than crossing through the island in the middle. If your bus stop is on the island, it’s fine to use any of the three entrances.
Fare Payment
All bus fares should be paid on the bus as they have been in the past. (The proof-of-payment system originally planned for the Temporary Terminal has been postponed.) As a reminder, Clipper Add Value Machines (AVMs) are located at the corners of Howard and Main streets and Howard and Beale streets.
Benches and Restrooms
Responding to feedback from transbay passengers after the opening of the Temporary Terminal in August, the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) has agreed to more than double the number of benches at the Temporary Terminal. Passengers for most lines will have seating available either at their bus stop or nearby. Lines P and V passengers should note that there is still no seating in the area of their stops. Seating is planned for these stops; however, there has been a delay in installation. We will keep you posted on the progress.
The TJPA is also considering a proposal to provide restroom access at the Temporary Terminal, and AC Transit will inform transbay passengers about the outcome of this as soon as we hear about a decision.
Other Transit Operators
Passengers using Muni, SamTrans, Golden Gate Transit, as well as private business shuttles, Caltrans bike shuttle, and Paratransit, are advised to review the Temporary Terminal diagram or go to www.temporaryterminal.org for details about pick-up and drop-off locations.
*The All Nighter Line 800 will pick up and drop off passengers on Beale Street near the corner of Howard Street.
