Bike to Work Month is here, and AC Transit will once again be participating in the region’s annual Bike to Work Day — now in its seventeenth year –on Thursday, May 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. at Frank Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland.
How Quickly Can You Load a Bike onto an AC Transit Bike Rack?
Come down to Frank Ogawa Plaza and look for the AC Transit bus! As in years past, we’ll have a bus on display at the downtown Oakland Energizer Station so that participants can practice putting a bicycle onto an AC Transit bike rack, or learn how to do it. We’ll also be holding a contest to see who can correctly load and unload a bicycle onto the bike rack in the fastest time. The winner will receive an awesome Bike to Work Day prize package consisting of an AC Transit 31-day bus pass*, bike lights, and a set of East Bay bike route maps (donated by the East Bay Bicycle Coalition)! Everyone who participates in the contest, as well as those who just want to try out the bike rack without being timed, will receive two free
1-ride tickets for local AC Transit service.
The Energizer Station will also have a free pancake breakfast, cool giveaways, bike tune-ups, and valet bike parking for the day provided by the East Bay Bicycle Coalition and the City of Oakland.

- Contestants must load and unload the bicycle in a safe and correct manner to be determined by AC Transit staff.

- The winner will be announced at 9:00 a.m. at the conclusion of the Energizer Station festivities. AC Transit will also contact the winner by phone and/or e-mail later in the day.
