AC Transit Makes it Easier to Get a Clipper® Youth Card

News Articles
05/13/2011

AC Transit and Clipper are teaming up to make it easier for youths to apply for a Clipper Youth card by hosting a number of convenient, weekend registration events at AC Transit’s downtown Oakland ticket office.

A Clipper Youth card, issued by AC Transit, is a personalized card and requires proof of qualifying age. Applicants must be 5 – 18 years old and apply for the card in person. Once you submit a completed application form with proof of age, and have your photo taken, AC Transit staff will verify your information. You can expect your Clipper Youth card by mail within 14 calendar days.

Bring one of these documents with you to show proof of age:

- birth certificate,
- passport,
- military dependent card, or
- alien registration card

You can apply for a card at AC Transit’s ticket office, located at 1600 Franklin St. in downtown Oakland, during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except holidays. Or, you can attend one of the upcoming, weekend registration events*:

June 4, 2011 (Saturday)
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
AC Transit, 1600 Franklin St., Oakland CA

June 18, 2011 (Saturday)
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
AC Transit, 1600 Franklin St., Oakland CA

June 25, 2011 (Saturday)
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
AC Transit, 1600 Franklin St., Oakland CA

Once you’ve received your Clipper Youth Card, you can add value at any Clipper retailer or on-line at www.clippercard.com. An AC Transit Youth 31-Day pass or cash value, or both, can be loaded onto your card.  If you have questions about the registration events, the process, or about using your new card, you can e-mail them to customerservices@actransit.org or, call 511 (and say, “AC Transit”).

*Check back here, since additional events may be added.
