Stop changes on lines 1R, 51A, and 51B on Sunday, August 28

As AC Transit continually strives to reduce operating costs, while not compromising on service provision, AC Transit is implementing a series of stop changes on lines 1R,  51A, and 51B this Sunday, August 28.  These stop changes are intended to even out bus stop spacing and make service faster by eliminating redundant stops. The changes also affect other lines at stops shared with the 1R, 51A, or 51B.

The following stop changes are taking place:

LINE 1R

In both directions, the Line 1R stops on International Blvd. at 5th Ave. and at 10th Ave. are being replaced by new 1R stops on International Blvd. at 8th Ave.. Lines 1 and 801 will continue to stop at all three avenues.

In both directions, the Line 1R stops on International Blvd. at 26th Avenue are being replaced by new Line 1R stops on International Blvd. at 23rd Avenue. Lines 1 and 801 will continue to stop at both avenues.

The Line 1R stops on E. 14th St. at Dolores Ave., and on E. 14th St. at Parrott St., are being discontinued. Passengers may board Line 1R on E. 14th St. at Estudillo Ave. Lines 1 and 801 will continue to stop at Dolores Ave. and Parrott St.

LINE 51A

The stops on Broadway at Whitmore Ave., toward Rockridge BART, and at 45th St., toward Alameda and Fruitvale BART, are being discontinued. This also affects lines 651, 660, 662, 682, CB, and 851. Passengers may board these lines southbound on Broadway at 42nd St. or 51st St., or northbound on Broadway at Mather St. or Pleasant Valley Ave.

The stop on Broadway at 29th St., toward Alameda and Fruitvale BART, is being discontinued. This also affects lines 651 and 851. Passengers may board these lines on Broadway at 28th St. or 30th St.

The stop on Broadway at 30th St., toward Rockridge BART, is being discontinued. This also affects lines 651 and 851. Passengers may board these lines on Broadway at 29th St. or Piedmont Ave.

In both directions, Lines 51A, 314, and 851 will no longer stop on Santa Clara Ave. at Ninth St. Passengers may board all these lines on Santa Clara Ave. at Eighth St., Mozart St. (toward Rockridge BART), or Caroline St. (toward Fruitvale BART). Update! An earlier plan to discontinue Line O service at this stop and establish Line O service at 8th St. has been canceled. Line O will continue to stop at Ninth St.

In both directions, the stops on Broadway at Lincoln Ave. in Alameda, are being discontinued. This also affects Line 851. Heading toward Fruitvale BART, passengers may board these lines on Broadway at Santa Clara Ave. or Tilden Way. Heading toward West Alameda and Rockridge BART, passengers may board these lines on Broadway at Tilden Way or on Santa Clara Ave. at Broadway.

LINE 51B

In both directions, the stops on University Ave. at Milvia St. are being discontinued. This also affects lines 25, 52, 88 (eastbound only), 604, 800, and FS. Except for Line FS, passengers on all these lines may board on University Ave. at Martin Luther King Jr. Way or on University Ave. at Shattuck Ave. Line FS passengers may board on Shattuck Ave. at University Ave. or University Ave. at Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

The stop on Durant Ave. at Fulton St., toward Rockridge BART, is being discontinued. This also affects lines 1, 49, 604, and 605. Passengers may board these lines on Durant Ave. at Shattuck Ave. or at Ellsworth Ave.

The stop on Bancroft Way and Bowditch St., toward West Berkeley, is being discontinued. This also affects lines 49, 52, 604, 605, 851, and F. Passengers may board these lines on Bancroft Way at College Ave. or Bancroft Way at Telegraph Ave.

The stop on Durant Ave. and Bowditch St. toward Rockridge BART is being discontinued. This also affects lines 49, 51B, 604, 605, and 851. Passengers may board all these lines on Durant Ave. at College Ave. or Telegraph Ave.
