When School’s Out, We’ll be “In”! During Thanksgiving Week, Register at AC Transit for a Clipper Youth Card

News Articles
11/11/2011

If your student needs a Clipper Youth card, you might want to consider visiting the AC Transit ticket office during the week of Thanksgiving. This year Thanksgiving Day falls on Thursday, November 24 and with the exception of the holiday itself, AC Transit will be open for business (on November 21 – 23 and on November 25.)  You can visit the ticket office during regular weekday ticket office hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.!

If you already have a Clipper Youth card, be sure to keep it! The same card is good for use until you turn 19.

Clipper Youth Card Requirements
A Clipper Youth card, issued by AC Transit, is personalized with your photo and requires proof of age. Applicants must be 5 – 18 years old and register for the card in person. Once you submit a completed application form with proof of age, and have your photo taken, AC Transit will verify your information. If you choose to, you can purchase a temporary paper 31-Day pass from AC Transit staff for $20, to use until you receive your new Clipper Youth card.

To register for a Clipper Youth card, you’ll need to bring one of the following documents (along with your completed application) to the AC Transit ticket office, located at 1600 Franklin Street.

- Birth certificate
- Passport
- State-issued ID or state-issued driver’s license
- Military dependent card
- Alien registration card/permanent resident card
- Matricula Consular/consular ID card

You can expect to receive your card by mail within about two weeks.

Loading Value Onto a Clipper Card
Once you’ve received your Clipper Youth card, you can add value at any Clipper retailer, including any Bay Area Walgreens store, or online at www.clippercard.com. You can load an AC Transit 31-Day Youth bus pass, cash value, or both, onto your card.

If you have questions about getting or using a Clipper Youth card, you can e-mail customerservices@actransit.org or, call 511 (and say, “AC Transit”).
