On Wednesday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m., the AC Transit Board of Directors will receive public comment on the proposed plan to adjust AC Transit’s ward boundaries. The adjustments are designed to rebalance the population among the five electoral wards based on 2010 U.S. Census data. The hearing will take place at AC Transit’s General Offices, 1600 Franklin Street, Oakland. The public is invited to comment before or at the hearing.
The plan development process began earlier this year, with staff preparing two potential boundary reconfigurations. During the month of October, four community meetings were held to solicit comments and suggestions. Based on the input received, a third plan was developed and recommended to the Board of Directors for consideration at the December hearing.

Maps of the ward boundaries are also available at www.redrawca.org (click on “See Local Lines” and select Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District). From this site, the public can draw “communities of interest,” draft alternative plans, and submit them to the District Secretary.
Members of the public not attending the hearing may submit comments before the hearing. These comments must be received by Monday, December 12, at 5:00 p.m., via e-mail to districtsecretary@actransit.org, via fax to (510) 891-7157, via voicemail to (510) 891-7201, or via post to District Secretary, AC Transit, 1600 Franklin Street, Oakland, CA 94612.
AC Transit welcomes requests for translation services at the public hearing. Requests should be made by Thursday, December 8, by contacting the AC Transit District Secretary’s office at (510) 891-7201.
Questions and requests for additional information about the process and the proposed plan may be e-mailed to districtsecretary@actransit.org.
