Transbay Buses Will Go To/From West Oakland BART
On Presidents’ Day All East Bay Service On Sunday Schedules
To accommodate Caltrans’ plan for new construction for the eastern span of the Bay Bridge, AC Transit bus service to and from San Francisco will be halted from Friday evening on February 17th to Tuesday morning February 21st. The last transbay bus allowed to use the bridge will be Line NXC, leaving the San Francisco Terminal on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m.
Although Transbay bus service will not operate over the Bay Bridge, transbay lines will maintain regular service throughout the East Bay. However, instead of crossing the Bay Bridge, transbay buses will detour to the West Oakland BART station. For late night service, Line 800 All Nighter buses will operate to and from the 12th Street BART station.
BART trains will run hourly, all-night service. But there will be no late-night BART service between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Tuesday morning before the bridge is scheduled to reopen.
Regular transbay bus service will resume by 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning February 21st if Caltrans reopens the bridge for traffic as planned. If the bridge remains closed on Tuesday, all regular transbay bus service will be diverted to and from BART stations at either West Oakland, MacArthur, North Berkeley or the Coliseum for service to and from San Francisco.
In any event, riders are urged to call 511 for the latest information regarding service across the Bay Bridge.
Meanwhile, in observance of Presidents’ Day on Monday, all AC Transit offices will be closed and all buses will operate on Sunday schedules.
Regular weekday East Bay service will resume on Tuesday, February 21st. Complete scheduling information is available online at www.actransit.org or by telephoning 511 and saying “AC Transit.”
