With unusually large numbers expected for a host of Bay Area events–and if BART workers continue to strike–AC Transit will beef up its normal holiday transbay service by running more buses, more often on July 4.
The frequency of buses will double from 30-minute intervals to 15-minute intervals for most of the day on these transbay lines:
Line NL: Runs along MacArthur Boulevard from East Oakland to San Francisco. Stops include High Street, Fruitvale Avenue, Lakeshore Avenue, and downtown Oakland (20th & Broadway).
Line F: Runs along Shattuck Avenue and Adeline Street from downtown Berkeley to San Francisco via Emeryville. Stops include UC Berkeley, Ashby BART, and 40th Street & San Pablo Avenue.
Also running at its regular holiday service frequency of every 60 minutes is:
Line O: Runs from Fruitvale BART through Alameda along Broadway, Santa Clara Avenue, and Webster Street, through the tube and on to San Francisco. (Note: Temporary stop at Fruitvale BART during the strike is on E. 12th Street at 33rd Avenue.)
And for late-night revellers, All Nighter transbay service will run at 30-minute intervals in the wee hours of Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning (July 4-7) on:
Line 800: Runs down Market Street in San Francisco from Van Ness Avenue, along Beale Street to the Bay Bridge, then to downtown Oakland, downtown Berkeley, and Richmond.
Find maps and stops for these four lines. For details on the augmented schedules, please call 511 and say “AC Transit.” (The temporary schedules cannot be posted on website schedule pages.)
The extra trips are being offered to cope with what could be a significant shortage of transit service across the Bay for those hoping to get to major league baseball games, America’s Cup yacht races, fireworks shows, and other festivities.
A decision to add supplemental service on Line NL and/or Line F on Saturday, July 6, and/or Sunday, July 7, is pending an assessment of the likely need and the availability of both equipment and personnel.
