AC Transit and the City of Alameda invite the public to a community meeting on July 9, 7:00 p.m., at Alameda City Hall, to discuss potential improvements to the Line 51A bus corridor from Alameda to Oakland. This will be the first of a series of community meetings related to the Line 51A/B Corridor Delay Reduction and Sustainability Project, a $10.5 million effort to design and implement improvements along Line 51A and Line 51B from Alameda to Berkeley. The project is funded through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Transit Performance Initiative program.
At the meeting, staff will outline potential corridor upgrades that could include a bus-only lane extension on Webster Street between Atlantic Avenue and Willie Stargell Avenue; bus stop relocations, bus bulbs, shelters, and benches; and intersection, traffic signal, and transit-priority signal-timing improvements. Attendees will then discuss in small groups the proposed improvements.
For more information on the project, go to http://alamedaca.gov/public-works/line-51. Community members who are unable to attend this working session can submit written comments by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, to Tammy Kyllo, Administrative Coordinator, AC Transit, 1600 Franklin Street, Oakland, CA 94612 or by e-mail at planning@actransit.org.
All written comments will be part of the official public record. The City of Alameda Transportation Commission is expected to review the recommended options on Wednesday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m.
