On May 6, the jury in the case of Francisco v. Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District rendered its verdict and awarded plaintiffs compensatory damages as a result of an accident that occurred on an AC Transit bus.
Although AC Transit acknowledged it was responsible for the accident and the amount awarded was less than 50% of what plaintiffs sought at trial, the facts and law do not support the excessive jury award, including $11 million awarded for past and future pain and suffering.
AC Transit is considering all available post-verdict remedies.
