Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. AC Transit is considering new policies to ensure equitable distribution of its services and to ensure all members of the public can fully participate in the decision-making process.
AC Transit encourages riders and the general public to participate by reviewing the proposed Title VI and environmental justice policies and providing feedback between now and the public hearing on June 11. A series of community meetings will be held in advance of the hearing to formally gather public comment on proposed policies.
The proposed revised policies may be accessed via the Public Hearings page on the AC Transit website. They are also available in printed form at the District’s General Offices, 1600 Franklin Street, Oakland, and at a variety of other locations within the District’s service area. To inquire about locations or to have documents sent via e-mail or postal mail, call (510) 891-5470. Both the online and printed documents are in English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Korean, and Vietnamese.
