The public is invited to attend the morning event featuring a light breakfast with Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy, AC Transit General Manager David Armijo, and other civic leaders.
What: An Open House for the East Bay’s Bus Rapid Transit Information Center.
Who: Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, San Leandro Mayor Steven Cassidy, AC Transit GM David Armijo, Oakland Councilman Noel Gallo, AC Transit Boardmembers Elsa Ortiz and Chris Peeples, Joel Ramos of TransForm, and more.
When: Friday, July 11, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Where: East Bay BRT Information Center, 3322A International Boulevard, Oakland.
The center is designed to be the community’s source for all things BRT, a $178 million investment that will enhance regional connectivity, upgrade the streetscape, and revitalize the 9.5 mile corridor from San Leandro BART to downtown Oakland. At the center, merchants, residents, AC Transit bus riders, and other visitors can be updated about any aspect of the project–from art enhancements and construction timetables, to bus stations and career opportunities. Also available are news and facts about BRT features and the positive changes that will benefit the diverse neighborhoods along its path, including newly paved streets, improved safety and accessibility features, better bicycling, and business promotion and economic development.
The center will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
