Public Invited to Help Shape AC Transit’s Future

Through a series of community meetings and workshops, AC Transit is on a mission to hear from the public on ways to enhance and reconfigure its bus services to better meet community needs.
Plan ACT, as it is known, will also collect feedback through surveys and public forums to get residents of all ages, vocations, and ethnicities to chime in about bus schedules and routes, whether they ride public transit or not.
“These Plan ACT meetings are important to us and a chance for each neighborhood to have a hand in shaping the bus service that runs along their streets,” said AC Transit General Manager David Armijo. “Bus service is better when decisions are not made in a vacuum. It is better when the community has a say about what is needed, and then we all work to make it happen.”
Plan ACT is a detailed study to determine how best to invest new resources and upgrade AC Transit service and policies. It is an extraordinary outreach effort that begins with a comprehensive public review of routes and schedules at the following community workshops:
• Wednesday, October 1, Hayward City Hall, 777 B Street, Conference Room 2A, Hayward, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
• Thursday, October 2, DeFremery Recreation Center, Social Hall, 1651 Adeline Street, Oakland, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, October 7, Youth Uprising, 8711 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
• Thursday, October 9, Youth Employment Partnership, 2300 International Blvd., Oakland, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, October 14, Alameda Main Library, Community Room B, 1550 Oak Street, Alameda, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, October 15, California School for the Blind, Theater Room, 500 Walnut Avenue, Fremont, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
• Saturday, October 18, Berkeley Library (South Branch), Community Meeting Room, 1901 Russell Street, Berkeley, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Thursday, October 23, Richmond Main Library, 325 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
