Public Comments on Recommendations Will Be Taken Until July 31
As part of AC Transit’s efforts to improve transportation in the East Bay, the agency has developed approximately 40 recommendations for new, expanded and improved routes and schedules throughout the service area. This plan, referred to as the Service Expansion Plan, was initially available for review earlier this year, and is now available for another round of community input prior to a public hearing and final approval from the AC Transit Board of Directors.
“This is an exciting time,” said Chris Peeples, president of the AC Transit Board of Directors. “These proposed expansions and improvements are the direct result of the voter-approved Alameda County Transportation Commission Measure BB sales tax reauthorization. They are the first step toward creating the most reliable, most efficient public transit system possible for you, our riders.”
The Measure BB reauthorization will provide AC Transit with an estimated $30 million in sales tax revenue annually to support bus service and maintenance of equipment and facilities. This new funding will allow AC Transit to expand by up to 14 percent the amount of bus service provided to customers in the East Bay.
Detailed information about the recommended expansions and improvements is available by area. Comments will be taken through July 31 using the following means.
