Ride with Pride! Will feature employees and an innovative fuel cell coach
The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) and our workforce of over 2000 employee are proud to support the 47th Annual San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration and Parade. For nearly a half-century the Celebration’s signature event has been its parade and on Sunday June 25th, AC Transit’s colors will meld with the iconic rainbow flag as we participate in the Pride Parade. AC Transit board members and employees clad in “Ride with Pride” attire, will escort one of our signature coaches – a 40-foot hydrogen fuel cell bus – through historic downtown San Francisco.
This year’s San Francisco Pride theme is “A Celebration of Diversity.” The phrase appropriately reflects the rich cultures and beliefs of the more than 170,000 riders that board our buses in the East Bay each operating day. “Diversity is also the foundation in which our transit agency is built,” said General Manager Michael Hursh. “We take pride in a workplace where everyone is welcomed, included, and valued.”
The Pride Parade is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. AC Transit will join 240 participants, thousands of marchers and spectators as we travel along Market Street, between Beale and 8th Streets, in a collective show of diversity and inclusion.
