AC Transit, in partnership with Eden I&R, received Federal Transit Administration New Freedom and Alameda County Transportation Commission Measure B funds to market the upgraded Alameda County 211 system. The goal of the project is to promote 211 as the go-to resource in Alameda County for the transportation needs of the senior and disabled populations. It’s a toll-free service, managed by Eden I&R, and is similar to 411 (information), or 911 (emergency). Just dial 211 for free and confidential health and social service information and referrals to Alameda County residents.
Eden I&R is a nonprofit agency committed to linking Alameda county families and individuals to the full range of community resources available to them.
The marketing campaign will target seniors, individuals with disabilities, and groups that represent these populations to promote using 211 for information and referral services, including transportation.
The campaign will include media, bus ads, outreach and brochures. These efforts allow AC Transit and Eden I&R to achieve performance measures that include the increase of 211 transportation referrals and an increase in the amount of 211 calls from people with disabilities. Marketing staff at AC Transit and Eden I&R are finalizing the various aspects of the project as well as working with Eden I&R’s Director of Information Technology to produce the appropriate reporting information necessary for measuring the goals of the project.
This project includes equipment purchases and upgrades for the Eden I&R 211 facility, and additional full time staff to handle the increased call and website volume generated by the marketing campaign. Eden I&R staff will also receive training that includes detailed and targeted transportation recommendations for seniors and people with disabilities.
