On Sunday, March 25, the Oakland Running Festival is staging a marathon, half-marathon, team relay, 5K, and kids fun run on the streets of Oakland. Streets will temporarily close in many parts of Oakland, including Downtown, West Oakland, Grand Lake, and the Oakland/Emeryville border. Bus service will be severely disrupted between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Most bus lines will have detours around the affected areas. Downtown Oakland will be served at a temporary transfer point on Castro St. between 12th and 17th streets, across from the I-980 freeway. For most buses, this will be their only stop in Downtown Oakland. Lines 1, 14, 19, 20, 33, 40, 51A, 62, 96, and 801 will also stop on 6th St. at Washington St.
Line 29 will also not operate its regular route. Instead, it will connect Downtown Oakland, West Oakland BART, and Emeryville in a one-way loop. This will be a one-way loop, refer to the line map to ensure you are waiting on the right side of the street for boarding. There will be no service along Lakeshore Ave. for the duration of the festival.
