AC TRANSIT ADVISES OF DETOURS AND POTENTIAL SERVICE DELAYS DUE TO ALAMEDA BRIDGE CLOSURES

The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) has been notified by the City of Alameda and the Alameda County Public Works Agency of both alternating lane closures and full bridge closures on the Miller-Sweeney (Fruitvale Avenue) Bridge, High Street Bridge and Park Street Bridge. Alameda County Public Works advises the planned closures are necessary maintenance to ensure ongoing day-to-day safety of the drawbridges operations and their use during an emergency or disaster. The bridge closures affecting AC Transit service are as follows:
Miller-Sweeney (Fruitvale Avenue) Bridge:
- Monday, April 2 – Day alternating lane closures (10:00 am to 2:00 pm)
- Tuesday, April 3 – Day alternating lane closures (10:00 am to 2:00 pm)
- Tuesday, April 3 – Night full bridge closure (9:00 pm to 1:00 am)
Bus line detours due to the Miller-Sweeney (Fruitvale Avenue) Bridge closure:
- Line 19 (eastbound and westbound)
- Line 51A (northbound and southbound)
- Line 851
- Line O (eastbound and westbound)
Coach stops out of service due to the Miller-Sweeney Bridge closure:
- Fruitvale Avenue and East 9th Street #50270 (southbound)
- Fruitvale Avenue and East 9th Street #58058 (northbound)
- Broadway and Blanding Avenue – will use Line W stop across the street

Park Street Bridge:
- Monday, April 9 through Thursday, April 12 – Day alternating lane closures (10:00 am to 2:00 pm)
- Wednesday, April 11 – Night full bridge closure (9:00 pm to 1:00 am)
Bus line detours due to the Park Street Bridge closure:
- Line 20 (eastbound and westbound)
- Line 21 (eastbound and westbound)
Coach stops out of service due to the Park Street Bridge closure westbound:
- East 12th Street and Fruitvale Avenue #57785
- 29th Avenue and East 12th Street #58856
- 23rd Avenue and 29th Avenue #55187
Eastbound:
- 29th Avenue and East 10th Street #53118
- East 12th Street and 29th Avenue #56738
AC Transit riders are reminded that our bus lines do not travel the High Street Bridge. As result, bus lines are not directly impacted by the individual bridge closure.
Additionally, bus line detours will activate and end in the hours listed above.
