A Better Ride on AC Transit’s Newest Buses
AC Transit’s newest buses will roll out starting in March 2013. Replacing AC Transit’s line of NABI buses (the 3000 and 3100 series), the new Gillig Low Floor buses (1300 series) will offer greater passenger convenience and more environmentally friendly performance than its predecessors.
Made right here in the Bay Area, these buses are designed with our service area and passengers in mind. Featuring true low-floor accessibility from the front door to the back door, passengers can board more easily and seat themselves without a step up.
A new passenger-friendly seat layout with nearly two dozen forward-facing seats; two wheelchair securement areas; and a new stroller area make riding the bus easier for everyone.
Under the hood, the buses will be equipped with an elaborate catalytic reduction and gas recirculation system that makes the engines of these new buses 90-percent cleaner than the buses being replaced.
AC Transit will have 65 new Gillig 1300 series buses on the road by May 2013.
