Pre-Launch Material

The formation of AC Transit as a publicly owned transit system was a new idea at the time. Not only were public funds being used to finance the system’s startup, but a bond issue was approved to fund the purchase of a privately owned transit company, Key System Transit Lines. Satisfying the needs and demands of the numerous stakeholders affected by this undertaking was a paramount concern for those involved at AC Transit’s inception. Over the course of this year, additional documents and materials will be added to this site to further illustrate AC Transit’s beginnings as a public agency.
