Biography:
Joe Wallace, an employment specialist, was elected in November 2000 and re-elected in November 2004 to represent Ward 1. He was instrumental in the creation three years ago of AC Transit's Line 376 service—California's first specifically-designed “welfare-to-work” bus route. His active involvement in community affairs includes service in leadership roles on the North Richmond Municipal Advisory Council, the AC Transit Rider Advisory Committee, the Board of Directors for the North Richmond Neighborhood House, and service as Assembly Member Loni Hancock's appointed delegate for the California Democratic Assembly for three years. Director Wallace has previously served as Vice President of the AC Transit Board of Directors and as President for two terms (2004-2005).
Ward 1
Cities of El Sobrante, San Pablo, Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, and Kensington as they currently are contained in Ward I. In addition, all of the City of Berkeley except for that area that is generally south of Cedar Street and east of Oxford Street, the University campus and east of Telegraph Avenue south of the University campus.
