Although a tentative labor accord has been reached, BART unions have not yet ratified the contract. If they fail to do so, and a BART strike occurs, AC Transit will run its regular service -- in the East Bay, to San Francisco, and to the Peninsula. A limited number of additional buses will be available to operate where they are needed most. We offer the following suggestions to make your traveling easier during this difficult time.

Finding the bus you need:

Paying your fare:

  • AC Transit buses accept exact fare only. (Drivers do not make change.)
  • AC Transit buses do not accept BART tickets.
  • Fares may be paid in cash (bills & coins) or with Translink, the Bay Area's smart card for transit. With heavy passenger loads, paying with coins rather than bills will speed boarding and help keep the buses moving.
