Transbay Terminal Ticket Office Closing September 18

The ticket office at the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco will close permanently on September 18, making that day the last date passengers can buy local AC Transit tickets, or Muni's fare media, at that location.

Effective Thursday, October 1, AC Transit will no longer accept paper transbay tickets  as fare payment, after which Transbay passengers can use a TransLink card, or pay cash. Passengers with unused transbay paper tickets can continue to exchange them for equal value on a free TransLink card by visiting either AC Transit's Oakland ticket office (1600 Franklin Street), or by mail using a downloadable ticket exchange form. (Please note that tickets may not be exchanged at AC Transit ticket or TransLink vendor locations.)

Passengers who have been adding value to their TransLink cards at the Transbay ticket office window will have a variety of options for reloading the card. You can add value:

  • At either of two Add Value Machines located in the Terminal near the ticket office;
  • By setting up Autoload online, which securely transfers money to your card and ensures it always has value on it;
  • Online at www.translink.org;
  • By phone by calling the TransLink Customer Service Center at 877-878-8883; or
  • At any TransLink retail location throughout the Bay Area. Find a complete list at www.translink.org/retail.

Passengers who receive their employer-provided transit benefits in the form of a paper voucher should, after September 18, visit a TransLink retail location to have the value of the voucher added to their TransLink card.
