UC Berkeley Class Pass

The UC Berkeley Class Pass program is valid for all undergraduate and graduate students enrolling in fall or spring semesters at UC Berkeley. The Class Pass program does not currently use the Clipper fare card. Instead, a Class Pass sticker is affixed to the student’s ID card at the start of each semester.

Class Pass Rules

  • The Pass is valid on all AC Transit buses (local and transbay) and UC Berkeley Campus Shuttles (except RFS). The Class Pass is not valid on the Dumbarton Express.
  • The Pass sticker must be applied to the front of the UC Berkeley student ID card next to the student photograph to be valid.
  • The Pass is valid only for the dates shown on the sticker.
  • The Pass is not transferable, refundable, and cannot be sold to anyone else.
  • The Pass cannot be photocopied.
  • Any attempt to transfer, sell, or photocopy the Pass may result in criminal charges and/or UC Berkeley student judicial disciplinary action.

City of Berkeley EasyPass

The City of Berkeley EasyPass is valid for all fully benefited City of Berkeley staff. The program uses the Clipper/TransLink fare card with Photo ID.

City of Berkeley EasyPass Rules

  • The Pass is valid on all AC Transit buses (local and transbay). The City of Berkeley EasyPass is not valid on the Dumbarton Express.
  • All Pass holders must tag their EasyPass on the Clipper card reader upon entering an AC Transit bus.
  • The Pass is valid only for the dates shown in your EasyPass welcome letter.
  • The Pass is not transferable, refundable, and cannot be sold to anyone else.
  • Any attempt to transfer or sell the Pass may result Pass revocation.

Peralta Community Colleges EasyPass

The Peralta Community Colleges EasyPass program is valid for all students at the four Peralta campuses-Laney and Merritt Colleges in Oakland; Berkeley City College in Berkeley, and College of Alameda in Alameda-enrolling and maintaining nine or more units in the fall and/or spring semesters. The program uses the Clipper/TransLink fare card with Photo ID.

The Ironhorse EasyPass is valid for qualified residents and uses the Clipper/TransLink fare card with photo ID.

Ironhorse EasyPass Rules

  • The Pass is valid on all AC Transit buses (local and transbay.) The Ironhorse EasyPass is not valid on the Dumbarton Express.
  • All Pass holders must tag their EasyPass on the Clipper card reader upon entering an AC Transit bus.
  • The Pass is valid only for the dates shown in the Pass holder’s EasyPass welcome letter.
  • The Pass is not transferable or refundable, and will be revoked if used by anyone else. If requested by AC Transit personnel, you must present your photo ID card for inspection.
  • Any attempt to transfer or sell the Pass will result in Pass revocation. In addition, a fine of up to $228 (or community service) can be imposed for the misuse of the pass with the intent to evade the payment of fares (California Penal Code 640.)
