EasyPass for Colleges

Benefits

College students have a smarter way to get to class with an EasyPass. AC Transit’s EasyPass program for Colleges provides a low-cost transit alternative for students and can be an effective solution to your campus’ transportation needs.

Car trips to campus can total in the hundred thousands annually. An EasyPass program will help reduce a significant percentage of those trips, and address the challenges of parking on the campus. EasyPass can also help your campus’ mission to embrace and invest in green practices. The EasyPass not only benefits students getting to and from campus, but also allows students to explore the Bay Area (including San Francisco) in the evenings or on weekends for one low price.

How to start an EasyPass program

Call or email us to set-up a meeting
We will set-up a brief meeting with you to provide an overview of our program and help you determine if EasyPass is right for your college or university.

Determine your participant pool and receive a pricing estimate
We will help you figure out how to create the best participant pool for your college, and then we’ll estimate your per-student pricing.

Program proposal
We will develop a program proposal for you that provides all the details you’ll need to show the decision-makers at your college.

Once you decide to have an EasyPass Program

Execute a baseline survey
The EasyPass program is results-driven–we want the program to work for your college. One way to evaluate the program is to determine how your students are currently getting around, and compare it to survey and ridership data at the end of the program. We will help you conduct an online survey of your students evaluate the results for you.

Student vote
The EasyPass can be funded directly by the college, or from a portion of every student’s fees. If funded by student fees, a student election (or referendum) will likely be conducted, and the program successfully affirmed by the student body prior to the program’s start.

Identify a Site Coordinator
One faculty or staff member will need to devote some time to coordinate the EasyPass program. That person will be the liaison between your college and AC Transit. We will provide the liaison with the training and promotional materials needed to help your EasyPass program flourish.

Give everyone an EasyPass
All eligible students should have access to an EasyPass. All students will need a photo ID on their EasyPass.

Receive resources & support
We want your EasyPass program to be a big success, so we are here to help you promote the program to your participants-both pre-and post- student referendum. You get free services from the AC Transit EasyPass team to get the word out to all your students about the EasyPass program including:

  • Marketing activities assistance and planning
  • Marketing and promotional collateral development
  • AC Transit service information
  • Promotional items
  • Ridership reports

Pricing

The EasyPass for Colleges program is tailored to your college and considers the number of participants, the existing level of bus service at your locations, and pass production, transaction, and administrative costs. Pricing is offered via the EasyPass Pricing Matrix as an per-participant price. EasyPass is valid through the academic year and summer.
