About TransLink

Each EasyPass is automatically loaded onto a TransLink regional fare card. TransLink makes it simple to pay the fare and get on the bus faster. The TransLink card stores the EasyPass--just tag the card by touching it to one of the card readers installed at the front of each bus. The AC Transit EasyPass program price includes the costs of producing and distributing the initial cards. All EasyPass participants must have a Photo ID on their EasyPass.

In addition to the EasyPass, cardholders can use credit or debit to add e-cash (stored value) to TransLink cards.

EasyPass FAQ

How long will it take to get an EasyPass program started with my group?
After the program has been approved by your organization, it generally takes about two months to launch a new EasyPass program for employers and residential communities. College programs that require a student election will take longer.

How do we pick the eligible participants?
The program is valid for a defined participant pool-for example, all employees living within the AC Transit service area. An employer, residential community, or college would not be allow to "cherry-pick" the participants-include only people who currently ride AC Transit, for instance. AC Transit will work with you to identify your best participant pool.

How do we get the Photo IDs to AC Transit, and what about our privacy?
For employer and college programs, you will be required to provide to AC Transit digital files of your participant pool. For residential programs, we will work with your site coordinator to manage the photo registration process. All ID files will be securely uploaded and maintained.

What happens if an EasyPass holder leaves the group?
If an EasyPass user becomes ineligible to continue in your program before the expiration of the Pass, their EasyPass will be deactivated. However, they can retain their card and load e-cash or a 31-day pass on the card using their own funds.

What happens if an employee needs an emergency ride home?
Sometimes people are reluctant to take public transit into work because they worry about how they will get home in case of illness or family emergency. Both Alameda and Contra Costa counties offer "Guaranteed Ride Home" programs for employers that allow the employee to use a taxi or rental car in the event of family illness, unscheduled overtime, or other emergency.

Visit http://www.grh.accma.ca.gov/ in Alameda County or http://www.511contracosta.org/guaranteed-ride-home/ in Contra Costa County for more information about the Guaranteed Ride Home program.

How does EasyPass work with other Bay Area transit agencies?
In addition to storing the AC Transit EasyPass, the TransLink card also allows EasyPass holders to add e-cash onto their TransLink card for easy access to other transit systems in the Bay Area. Currently, BART, San Francisco Muni and Golden Gate Transit and Ferry also accept TransLink cards.

What if there's no AC Transit service near my location?
If your employer, residence, or campus doesn't have existing AC Transit service, or you'd like more frequent service with an existing line, the EasyPass team will connect you with the AC Transit Planning Department. Any new line extensions or additional service are not included in the EasyPass Matrix pricing, and will be billed separately.
