Dumbarton Express
The Dumbarton Express has a new website, www.dumbartonexpress.com. The new site was created as part of a bigger effort currently in progress to give the service a distinct identity.
Passengers, along with partnering transit agencies and employers along both routes – lines DB and DB1 — can use the new site to find the most up-to-date schedule and map information. Also included is fare payment information, links to other transit agencies with intersecting service, and online trip-planning tips.
The service, running Monday through Friday between the East Bay and the Peninsula via the Dumbarton Bridge, is administered and governed by AC Transit with oversight by the Dumbarton Bridge Regional Operations Consortium (DBROC). The consortium is comprised of AC Transit, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), BART, SamTrans, and Union City Transit. Operated and maintained by MV Transportation, the Dumbarton Express is funded by Regional Measure 2.
In early 2013, AC Transit actively began promoting the service in an effort to raise awareness and increase ridership.
Dumbarton Corridor Improvement Project
The Dumbarton Corridor Improvement Project (Project) aims to improve reliability and reduce travel times for transit service. The Project will include the installation of a Transit Signal Priority (TSP) system, bus queue-jumps, and bus stop improvements and relocations. These improvements will ensure that the State Route 84 corridor in the cities of Union City, Fremont, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto provides transit services that better connect residents and businesses in the South Bay to job centers in the East Bay and on the Peninsula.
