About the Committee

STATUS: The Accessibility Advisory Committee was suspended on April 26, 2023. The General Manager's Access Committee (GMAC) was established to temporarily continue the work of the AAC. More information about this transition will be posted soon. Agendas for the GMAC can be found on the Public Meetings page.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee was established by the Board of Directors in 1991 to review, comment and advise the Board of Directors and District staff regarding the implementation and enhancement of planning programs and services for seniors and people with disabilities. The AAC consists of 14 members with two members being appointed by each of the seven elected members of the District’s Board of Directors. In 2020, the Board of Directors adopted Resolution 20-058 establishing two-year terms for Committee members.

Any individual that utilizes AC Transit’s fixed-route service, is a senior or an individual with a disability and/or represents such groups, and is willing to devote the necessary hours to attend meetings of the Committee shall be eligible for appointment. The Board of Directors encourages that membership on the Committee be ethnically diverse and cover all geographical areas of the District’s service area as well as representation by/for seniors and individuals with varying types of disabilities.

Continuous Recruitment for Volunteers to Service on the Committee 

Applications for membership on the AAC are being accepted on a continuous basis.  These are non-paid, volunteer positions with a term of office of two-years.  Please consult the Recruitment Notice and Application for more information.

Meeting Information:
Meeting agendas will be posted at least 72 hours in advance for regular meetings and 24 hours in advance for special meetings.  Regular meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the East Bay Paratransit Office located at 1750 Broadway in Oakland, California.
