AC Transit Flex service was launched in July 2016 in Castro Valley and Newark/Fremont. Flex is an on-demand microtransit service that allows passengers to schedule their pick-up and drop-off locations within the Flex service zones, helping to address first- and last-mile connections to the regional transit network. 

AC Transit Flex service was temporarily suspended due to the pandemic, and continues to be suspended as the District works towards restoring service levels.
