AC Transit operates in a diverse environment, serving 13 cities and several unincorporated communities in the East Bay. This page was created as a resource for partner cities and counties to effectively incorporate public bus services on local streets and roads. It includes AC Transit’s policies, procedures, and other relevant guidance designed to help cities and counties successfully support AC Transit’s mission. Our goal is to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable transit service that meets the needs of our customers and communities.

Construction Access Permits
Construction Access Permits
A Construction Access Permit is required prior to entering or commencing any work located within AC Transit property, on or adjacent to any AC Transit asset, or any work within 10-feet of any AC Transit fiber optic cable. A Construction Access Permit application is initiated by the applicant or designer when a completed application is submitted to the AC Transit Permit Technician. Applications can be found on this page or be obtained by emailing a request for the application to: permits@actransit.org.
