APPLICANTS SOUGHT TO FILL VACANCY ON AC TRANSIT BOARD OF DIRECTORS

March 01,2022

The interim director will serve the remaining term of office for AC Transit’s Ward 4

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) Board of Directors is seeking applicants to fill the currently vacant Ward 4 Director’s position. The Board of Directors is a seven-member elected policy making body, responsible for regulating the operation of East Bay public transit bus service for more than 53 million riders each year.

Any person interested in filling this vacancy must live and be registered to vote within the Ward 4 geographical boundary of the District. The person filling this seat will serve out the remainder of the unexpired term of former AC Transit Director Mark Williams until the first Friday in December 2022. Because AC Transit is in the process of adjusting its ward boundaries and is expected to adopt a final boundary map for Ward 4 on March 23, 2022, candidates must live within the new boundary in order to be considered for appointment. Ward 4 includes a portion of the city of Hayward, a portion of the city of San Leandro, and the unincorporated areas of San Lorenzo, Cherryland, Castro Valley, Ashland and Fairview. A map and general description of the Ward 4 boundary can be found at www.actransit.org/ward-4-vacancy-recruitment.

The person appointed to fill the vacancy on the Board is expected to participate in regular AC Transit Board meetings, occurring on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, and serve on one or more committees.  Attendance at other meetings may be required.

Under the California’s Political Reform Act of 1974 (Government Code section 81000, et seq.), the newly selected director must file a Statement of Economic Interest form within 30 days of assuming office and annually thereafter.

Persons wishing to be considered for appointment to fill this Board vacancy must submit: 1) a Letter of Interest of not more than two pages expressing the applicant’s interest in and qualifications for selection, including pertinent experience and time availability; 2) a resume; and 3) letters of recommendation from three individuals or organizations. Interviews and selection are expected to occur in April.

Completed applications must be addressed and received to the address below on or before the firm deadline of Noon on March 30, 2022.
