FROM REGISTRATION TO VOTING, AC TRANSIT HELPS YOU GET THERE
Starting today, October 5, Bay Area voters can vote early or drop off ballots
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) has a long and proud history of supporting nonpartisan voter registration efforts. In the past, a specially wrapped voter AC Transit voter registration bus traveled throughout the East Bay with a simple but important message: make your voice heard.
In 2026, our commitment to encouraging every eligible voter to participate remains as strong as ever. With the November 3 General Election approaching, AC Transit wants to be part of voters’ plan to get to voting centers.
Beginning today, October 5, early voting and ballot drop-off locations are opening for the November 3 General Election. California conducts elections using universal vote-by-mail, which means every active registered voter automatically receives a ballot while retaining the option to vote in person.
However you choose to cast your ballot, the choice is yours. AC Transit bus lines remain a safe and reliable way to reach in-person voting locations. AC Transit does not advocate for any candidate, political party, ballot measure, or political position. We encourage eligible voters to stay informed, participate in the democratic process, and make their voices heard.
Getting there is another part of making a plan to participate. From West Contra Costa County to South Alameda County, AC Transit operates more than 120 bus lines connecting the communities we serve to voting locations. Use the Trip Planner at actransit.org to plan your trip.
An important part of that plan is also ensuring East Bay voters are registered. The deadline to register to vote online or by mail is Monday, October 19. If residents miss the October 19 deadline, California offers Same Day Voter Registration through Election Day at eligible voting locations.
Residents can register online at registertovote.ca.gov or obtain a voter registration form at public libraries throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties, DMV offices, or U.S. Post Offices.
