Fare Changes July 1, New Fare Benefits

Fare Changes July 1, New Fare Benefits

June 03,2026

AC Transit will implement a planned fare adjustment on July 1, completing the two-phase process approved in March 2025. Fares are an important part of transit operations, even though they only cover a portion of total costs. If a rider doesn’t pay their fare, AC Transit loses revenue it cannot easily replace, which can lead to service cuts that hurt everyone who depends on the bus.

Adult fares as of July 1, 2026:

Fare Type  Pay with Clipper or contactless payments Pay with Cash
Local Single Ride $2.75 $3
Transbay Single Ride $6.50 $6.50
Local to Transbay Upgrade $3.75 $3.50
Local Day Pass $6 $6.50
Local Weekly Pass $27.50 --
Local Monthly/31-day Pass $99 --
Transbay Monthly/31-day Pass $234 --

For details, including discount fare prices, visit the Fares page.

AC Transit offers many fare benefits, some of which are only available with Next-Generation Clipper or contactless payments. For more information about Next-Generation Clipper, visit Clippercard.com.
