Title VI Notice of Public Rights
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs that receive federal funding. AC Transit is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in , or denied the benefits of, its services on the basis of race, color, or national origin as protected by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

If believe you have been subjected to discrimination under Title VI, you may file a written complaint. Please download a printable complaint form and mail it to us at the address listed on the form.
A complaint may also be filed with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Office of Civil Rights via mail (Federal Transit Administration at 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE Washington, DC 20590) or the online complaint form at www.transit.gov/regulations-and-guidance/civil-rights-ada/file-complaint-fta. For assistance or questions, contact the toll-free civil rights hotline at (888) 446-4511. Complaints should be filed within 180 days of the alleged violation.

AC Transit Title VI Programs
As a designated federal funds (Federal Transit Administration) recipient, every three years AC Transit prepares a Title VI Program in accordance with FTA Circular C4702.1B (dated October 1, 2012). These Programs serves as an update to the previous Title VI Program with the purpose of assessing compliance of the District with the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Title VI Analyses of Service or Fare Proposals
Whenever the AC Transit Board of Directors considers a service or fare change, they direct staff to solicit public input and to conduct an equity analysis to assess how each proposal will affect different rider populations. This Title VI analysis also determines if any of the service or fare proposals would result in disproportionately high and adverse effects on populations of people of color or low-income people within the District. Title VI Presentation for Public Hearing June 2014
