Winter Service Changes Effective Sunday, December 5

AC Transit ridership is on a steady upswing. The December 5 upcoming service changes will meet ridership growth accordingly, with service increasing to 85% of pre-pandemic levels. Service changes include returning several lines to full-service levels, the return of additional Transbay service, the launch of a new pilot line in Hayward, and improving reliability system-wide.

Highlights of Service Changes Include:

  • Line FS is restored partially for Transbay service 
  • Line 60 is extended from Chabot College to South Hayward BART 
  • Lines 52 and 74 are restored to a pre-pandemic level of service 
  • Hours are extended (for earlier or later times) on eight other local bus lines

Summary of December Service Changes:

6 On weekdays, two additional trips operate after midnight in each direction, with the last trip in each direction beginning at about 12:35 am. Other minor schedule changes. 
7One additional trip operates toward El Cerrito del Norte BART, leaving downtown Berkeley at 8:08 am. (One additional trip toward downtown Berkeley added earlier this fall remains in service.) Other minor schedule changes. 
33Service extended later on weekdays. Two additional trips operate from Montclair to Highland Ave. & Highland Way, with the last trip beginning at 10:48 pm. Three additional trips will operate from Highland Ave. & Highland Way to Montclair, with the last trip beginning at 11:00 pm. Other minor schedule changes. 
35On weekdays, one additional trip operates from Bay Fair BART to Foothill Square, leaving Bay Fair BART at 5:50 am. Other minor schedule changes. 
52Weekday service is restored to its pre-pandemic hours and frequency, with 67 trips toward the UC campus and 68 trips toward University Village.  
54Weekdays, one additional trip operates toward Merritt College, beginning at 10:07 pm. Other minor schedule changes. 
56Trips adjusted to be half an hour earlier on weekdays (with service hourly from 6:15 am to 10:15 pm), and half an hour later on weekends (with service hourly from 7:15 am to 11:15 pm). 
60Service extended from Chabot College to South Hayward BART via Hesperian Blvd. and Tennyson Road. Other minor schedule changes. 
65One additional trip added in each direction. From downtown Berkeley, the first bus leaves at 7:10 am. and the last bus leaves at 7:12 pm. From the Lawrence Hall of Science, the first bus leaves at 7:33 am. and the last bus leaves at 7:36 pm. 
67 One additional trip operates toward downtown Berkeley, leaving Spruce St. & Grizzly Peak Blvd. at 8:05 am. (One additional trip toward downtown Berkeley added earlier this fall remains in service.)  
74All trips on weekdays operate from Ford Point to Castro Ranch Road. (Line 74 will not serve Hilltop Mall on weekdays. Connections to lines 72 and 76 are available at Contra Costa College.) On weekdays, service operates earlier and later. From Ford Point, the first bus leaves at 4:42 a.m. and the last bus leaves at 8:55 pm. From Castro Ranch Road, the first bus leaves at 5:10 am and the last bus leaves at 9:43 pm. 
76Two trips added in each direction on weekdays, leaving El Cerrito del Norte BART at 5:17 am and 5:47 am, and leaving Richmond Parkway Transit Center at 5:32 am and 6:02 am. Other minor schedule changes.   
79One additional trip will operate in each direction. From Rockridge BART, the first bus leaves at 5:49 am and the last bus leaves at 8:28 pm. From El Cerrito Plaza BART, the first bus leaves at 5:31 am and the last bus leaves at 8:07 pm. 
93 On weekdays, the frequency is increased, to operate every 45 minutes. Other minor schedule changes. 
212Heading toward Pacific Commons, all trips operate fifteen minutes later. Heading toward Fremont BART, all trips operate twenty-five minutes earlier. 
604The morning trip will continue to Oakland Hebrew Day School after serving Head Royce School. In the afternoon, a new trip operates from  Hebrew Day School to North Berkeley BART. Other afternoon trips are adjusted to better meet school bell times. 
667 Line 667 trips serving Korematsu Middle School will operate on Richmond Street instead of Navellier Street between Schmidt Lane and Moeser Lane. Stops on Navellier Street, and on Moeser Lane at Pomona Avenue, will not be served. Use the stop at Korematsu Middle School or, coming from El Cerrito High School, on Ashbury Avenue at Stockton Avenue. 
684 Toward El Cerrito High School, Line 684 will operate via Richmond Street instead of Navellier Street between Schmidt Lane and Moeser Lane. Stops on Navellier Street at Seaview Place and on Moeser Lane at Pomona Avenue will not be served. Use stops on Ashbury Avenue at Stockton Avenue or Scott Street at Schmidt Lane. 
FSSome service restored on Line FS, with two trips per day each way. 
LANew stops serve the Albany Park and Ride Lot at Buchanan St. & I-80. Other minor schedule changes. 
Other Minor schedule changes are made on lines 12, 14, 18, 20, 21, 34, 39, 51A, 57, 62,  70, 72, 72M, 72R, 73, 86, 95, 96, 200, 215, 216, 232, 251, 671, 677, 681, 800, 801, 805, NL, NX and OX.   New schedules adopted to better meet school bell times on lines 605, 606, 620, 621, 623, 625, 626, 628, 629, 631, 663, 667, 675, 682, 684, 687 and 688. 

“Minor schedule changes” are those that move the times of bus trips earlier or later by a few minutes. 

In addition, lines that have trips that operate school days only will have updated information on the specific dates they operate available on the AC Transit web site, actransit.org. These lines are 33, 51A, 72M, 76, 95, 97, 217, and 600 through 699. 

All lines have printable timetables available online, and pocket timetables are available on board buses for local bus lines and Transbay bus lines F, NL, O, and 800.
