Service Changes Effective Sunday, August 6

Service Changes Effective Sunday, August 6

July 13,2023

AC Transit is making changes to improve our service reliability and prepare for the upcoming school year. The changes will go into effect on Sunday, August 6.

We are working to better match service levels to bus operator availability. It will mean some minor reductions in the frequency of many lines.

Line 7 will be extended to the Emeryville Amtrak Station as a one-year pilot to restore transit service on Ashby Avenue that was discontinued when Line 80 was suspended. Line 7 will connect downtown Berkeley to Ashby and Emeryville via Bancroft Way, Durant Ave., and College Ave.

The Line 78 pilot is ending due to low ridership and challenges with bus-ferry schedule alignment. Find alternatives here.

A full list of changes can be found below.

Highlights of changes:

  • Lines and trips designed to serve schools resume for the fall.
  • Line 7 extended to serve Ashby Ave. and Emeryville Amtrak as a one-year pilot.
  • Line 33 between Highland Ave. and Highland Way and Estates Dr. and Inverleith Terrace reduced to trips around school bell times.
  • Stops on Foothill Blvd. at Foothill Square relocated along Foothill Blvd. for operational efficiency.
  • Numerous lines have schedule changes to improve reliability.
  • The Line 78 pilot has ended.
