Preparing for the Worst-case Scenario
AC Transit faces a $200 million, four‑year deficit. Without sustainable funding by December 2026, major service reductions would begin in June 2027. These cuts could mean reduced frequency, shorter hours, and the loss of some routes across our network, including Transbay service. Every community could feel the impact, so we encourage riders to review the proposed changes and see how their trips may be affected.
Commonly used terms/phrases:
Frequency: How often a bus will arrive at each stop.
Hours of Operation: Times during which AC Transit offers bus service.
Line: The individual service provided by AC Transit.
Route/Routing: The path a bus takes from its origin to its final destination.
Schedule: Times of day the bus will arrive at its various destinations.
