Supplementary Service to Schools

Welcome to our home for everything about our Supplementary Service to Schools. In addition to our regular local lines, AC Transit provides supplemental service to schools in 17 cities throughout the East Bay. This page will provide you with the latest service information and ways to pay.
Supplementary Service to schools resumed for the fall 2023 semester on August 6. The following are highlights of the changes for December 3:

604 | Friday trip leaving Oakland Hebrew Day School shifted earlier to depart at 2:10 pm. |
623 | Additional trip leaving Irvington High School at 3:22 pm. |
624, 641 | Trips starting at Hopkins Middle School will leave five minutes later. Line 624 trips from Hopkins Middle School will end at Paseo Padre Parkway and Mission Blvd. |
651 | Morning trip to Oakland Technical High School will leave five minutes earlier at 8:01 am. One Wednesday afternoon trip from Oakland Technical High School will leave two minutes earlier at 3:03 pm. |
657 | The Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday trips starting from Eastmont Transit Center will leave one minute earlier at 7:41 am. The Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday trips starting from 42nd St. & Broadway will leave three minutes earlier at 3:50 pm. |
669 | Early Wednesday schedule from De Anza High School changed to an early Friday trip. New Monday through Thursday schedule will leave De Anza High School ten minutes earlier than the current Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday schedule. |
671 | Early Wednesday schedule from De Anza High School changed to two early Friday trips. Current Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday trip changed to two Monday through Thursday trips. |
675 | The Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday trips starting from El Cerrito High School at 2:17 pm will leave 16 minutes earlier at 2:01 pm. |
676 | Line extended to Richmond BART from Contra Costa College. Schedule changes to match bell schedules. |
684 | Afternoon trips starting from Scott St. & Donal Ave. will now start on Donal Ave. and Norvell St. Schedule changes on those two trips. |
687 | Wednesday afternoon trips will leave seven minutes earlier at 2:05 pm. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday schedule adjusted to match current operating schedule. |

How do I get updates about Service to Schools?
For the latest updates on bus service, please:
- Sign up for line-specific eNews here for timely notification about changes that could impact you and your student(s)
- Follow AC Transit on social media for live service updates
- Check the AC Transit website frequently for planned service updates
What happens when a bus is at capacity?
Riders can check crowding information via the rider capacity feature. When the onboard count reaches these thresholds, the operator will change the external head-sign to “Drop-Off Only,” alerting awaiting riders that the bus will likely bypass the stop. The operator will continue to recognize requests, by onboard riders, to exit.
What are my options if my bus did not stop?
If your stop is bypassed, please consider the following options:
- Check crowding information and next bus arrival on AC Transit’s Rider Capacity feature.
Where can I find specific information about local lines, schedules, and maps?
Please use the following resources for travel planning, maps and schedules:
- Plan your trip using your location via ACT RealTime or Trip Planner.
- Use the AC Transit Official App.
- Check maps and schedules. In addition, all lines have printable timetables available online.
- Timetables can be requested at the AC Transit Customer Service Center at 1600 Franklin Street in downtown Oakland. For specific questions, call Customer Service at (510) 891-4777 or use the online form.
